Verbal inspection reports can be given up to 7pm on the day of inspection.
Customers are not required to attend the inspection. Our inspectors will carry out the inspection providing the vendor is present.
Typically we will try and carry out all inspections within 3 working days.
We are only able to inspect vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes in gross vehicle weight.
There is no maximum age on the vehicles we will inspect with the purchase of our comprehensive or advanced vehicle inspections. However our basic inspection is not available for cars over 10 years old.
Unfortunately we are unable to inspect motorcycles. RAC offers a range of services for motorcycle owners. For more information please contact us.
Yes we do, however you will be required to inform us if the Vehicle is imported at the time of booking the inspection. Failure to do so may result in our inspector being unable to carry out the Inspection in full or part.
You will be required to pay for the inspection at the time of booking, either by credit or debit card.
You may cancel the Inspection up to 12pm on the working day before the Inspection. In the event cancellation is not received before 12pm of the working day before the Inspection is scheduled then the full cost of the Inspection will be due and You will not be entitled to any refund. If you have ordered a Vehicle History Check as an add-on, we will be unable to refund the cost of the Vehicle History Check as we will run the Vehicle History Check at the time of booking.

For certain makes and models of classic, high performance and prestige vehicles and for all vehicles over 20 years of age we will require the use of a specialist ramps to carry out the inspection. In these cases you will be charged an additional fee (currently £30) for the hire of suitable ramps.
Yes, it is your responsibility to notify the vendor of the date and location of our visit. You will also be required to inform the vendor of the following requirements that have to be met in order for us to carry out the inspection:
- The keys to the vehicle must be available
- The vehicle must have sufficient fuel for the Road Test
- The vehicle must be located on a hard, level surface off the public highway – if this is not possible, the Inspection may be restricted
- The vehicle must be present at the address of the Inspection as provided at the time of the booking and ready for inspection
- The vehicle should be in a reasonably clean condition
- The vehicle should be in a roadworthy and driveable condition
- A valid MOT Certificate (where applicable) and the vehicle’s DVLA registration documents should also be available for inspection.
