What is cherished car insurance?
Cherished car insurance is a special policy for owners whose car is their pride and joy, it doesn’t technically need to be a classic. Our partner, Hagerty, offers offer full cover, third party, fire and theft or third-party cover, so you know your car is in safe hands.
Does my cherished car qualify for classic insurance?
Of collectible interest
Your vehicle must be a special collectible. It needs to be kept for personal use, and not for business.
Only used as a second vehicle
This means it shouldn’t be your main vehicle. It also shouldn’t be driven over 5,000 miles a year.
Kept in a secure location
It should be parked in a garage or on a private driveway, not on the road.
What’s included in your cover?
Covered
Hagerty cover up to £20 million for property damage. There is no limit for death or injury.
If the glass in your windows or sunroof gets damaged, Hagerty cover the cost. If your vehicle was made after 1990, we can cover up to £1500.
Hagerty cover up to £500 for loss or damage to personal items in the vehicle you’ve insured. The damage must be caused by accident, or by a fire, or by someone stealing your items.
If you lose your personal registration plate, Hagerty will give you up to £5000 towards the cost.
Not covered
Loss of use of the insured vehicle, or any indirect loss.
Any vehicles with less than four wheels, unless agreed by Hagerty.
Damage to tyres caused by braking, punctures, cuts or bursts.
Loss or damage from wear and tear or breakdowns. Nor can Hagerty cover problems caused by the vehicle’s electrical or computer systems.
