Business Van Insurance

Business Van Insurance

RAC Business Van Insurance provides van drivers cover designed for owners with two vans or less. If you only have a limited number of vans then you may be worried that you have to insure your vehicles in a company name. Business van insurance can help you avoid this entirely, by allowing you to insure single vans in an individual’s name.

Business Van Insurance Benefits

We understand a van can be central to the business for many van drivers and, in the unfortunate event of an accident or theft, they need to get their vehicle back on the road as soon as possible. RAC Business Van Insurance provides:

  • 24/7 claims line
  • Windscreen cover for comprehensive policies
  • 7-days Guaranteed Replacement Vehicle (if carriage of own goods or haulage use selected)
  • Cover when driving in the EU

Who can use Business Van Insurance?

  • Small businesses – Not all businesses run a fleet (2 vans or more), but they still require cover for the vehicles they do have. Business Van Insurance can prove to be a cost-effective option for SMEs in that position.
  • Sole trader – Similarly, trade workers who have a single van may not need to insure their vehicle for multiple drivers, in which case a business van policy can save them time and money.

Bespoke Business Van Cover Levels

We also have a range of optional extras that can be purchased alongside your business van insurance. These include:

  • RAC Breakdown Cover – prices from £49.99 a year (choice of 3 cover options)
  • Tools and Van Contents cover – prices from £42.49 a year
  • Motor Legal Protection cover - for £19.99 a year
  • Keycare - for £8.99 a year
  • Guaranteed Replacement Vehicle cover – prices from £34.99 a year

Named Driver Insurance

If you intend to drive someone else’s vehicle you must be a Named Driver on their policy to get the same level of cover as the vehicle's main driver – otherwise you may not be covered by their motor insurance policy.

It is important to note that Named Driver policies are only applicable if the named driver is not the main driver or the owner of the vehicle. If main drivers put themselves down as Named Drivers, this is called 'fronting' and is a form of insurance fraud.

How RAC Business Van Insurance saves you money

There are more SMEs and sole traders than ever who rely on the efficient running of their vans, and we know if your vehicle is involved in an accident it could directly hit your profits. RAC Business Van Insurance provides the peace of mind van owners need to ensure that if the worst does happen their vehicles are covered and they are not left out of pocket.

For example, if you are often required to keep your tools in your van during the day or if you need to store equipment in your van overnight, they could be at risk of theft. Tools and Van Contents cover can pay for tools and equipment stolen or damaged while in a secured vehicle. There may be a limit on how much is covered for each vehicle, but with cover available from only £42.49 a year this investment could save you money if the worst does happen.

As clients need their equipment delivered on time to carry out their own business, and with some customers having to take the day off work to stay at home for their orders, having a tailored business van insurance policy has never been more urgent. With so many deadlines to meet and customers to reach, having the right policy will ensure that, if the worst does happen, you are just a phone call away from help.
